Pushing the limits of kitsch ornamentation to investigate the relevance of ego, authorship, and commodity in architecture
When there is a most efficient way to engineer a building based on function over form, how important is it for an architect to inject theories and discourse into the design? Ideas of autonomy in architecture remain esoteric and inaccessible to the layman, and architecture often functions merely as an "economic lubricant" -- transitory spaces that churn through business traffic day after day. Hotel architecture, in particular, are ubiquitous in their existence and operate as well-oiled profit machines clothed in architectural accents. Initially mundane, these architectural accents are cataloged and made into a kit of parts. And, when they are again applied to the scaffold of architecture, the once "kitsch of parts" transforms into a chaotic reflection of the humans who perpetually move in and out, and in again.

+ design phase: research and synthesize theory and precedent; present graphic visualizations as a basis for a final project thesis
+ design iterations: cooperate with a small team to generate and parse through site data, create computer algorithms to catalog and cross-reference architectural tropes to create a new kit of parts
