Light and dark, hot and cold, two sides of the same coin -- the human history of storytelling revolves around tension between one and the other. Something so abstract is normally invisible, but through art it may still be vicariously felt. This series of studies investigates tension and resolution in space, painstakingly hand-drawn in large format in order to force the consideration of line weights and scale. Tarkovsky laments the impossibility of translating art and culture in "Nostalghia", and these studies are contemplations of architecture through this lens.
