Once heralded as the fourth wealthiest city in the US at the turn of the century, Troy is a victim of the de-industrialization that decimated the nation's Rust Belt. However, the slow process of revitalization has seen new businesses and restaurants return to the riverfront that is now also home to the acclaimed Troy Waterfront Farmer's Market. In the lot where the city hall once stood, this hybrid apartment/public space architectural proposal bridges the brick skyline of downtown Troy, only to turn inside out to reveal the jagged, beautiful history of the city that leads from the main street down to the Hudson River.
